HK trip 2009 - Day 16 (Thursday Dec31)

Day 16, December 31, 2009.
My father’s birthday is tomorrow.
I totally forgot it was my mother’s birthday 4 days ago...

Last night, I had another weird dream.
I was with some guy trying to rush to a doctor’s appointment.
We couldn’t find the clinic.
By the time we found it, we were an hour late.
When we arrived, we ordered food. (Somehow, the clinic became a restaurant...)
We were sitting at a table full of unknown people.
And then suddenly, I was somewhere else talking with another person about some important matter.
I didn’t remember why it was important, but I had a feeling it was important.

And then my alarm rang.

I had a really simple breakfast. An egg sunny-side-up and two sausages with a cup of milk tea.
And then I waited for my grandparents to get ready for work.
While waiting, I had a really big sneeze. I got a stomach cramp from that...

By the time I got to the office, it was already past 11am.

At around 1pm, I went to lunch with my grandfather.
My grandmother was preparing for the New Year’s party.

I already bought everything I needed, and bought as much “want” as I wanted, so I stayed in the office and researched on the phone I have in mind.
If the phone meets my needs, I should be able to get it for free after my current contract is up in June.

At around 4pm, I went out to walk around the two computer malls in the area.
J also came when I got to 298.
He found a store that sells laptop screen protectors and would also apply it for him. (most refused to apply it)
That lady in the shop did a really good job on his.
I am going to bring my laptop to her tomorrow.
I also bought a pair of in-ear headphones for my father as his birthday present.
The thing I like about this type of headphones is that it blocks out a good amount of outside noise without any active noise cancelation.
He likes to watch movies and pre-recorded TV shows on his laptop when he transits between HK and China every week, so he might put it to use.

As I was walking to the bus station, I saw my bus arrive at the station.
I started running toward the bus just as the entrance door closed.
The bus driver saw me running and waited for me.
Surprisingly, there were not a lot of people in the bus, so I even managed to get a seat.

I got home.
My grandparents were holding a countdown gathering with a bunch of their friends and coworkers.
Even my father took a day off work to come back to HK.
I continued packing everything into my luggage.

We had hot pot for dinner. The people were separated into 3 different tables. Two of the table were small and could only fit about 5 people each. Some people were without table and walked between all three tables.

I wasn’t feeling too hungry.
The really “fresh” shrimps in front of me didn’t help either.
When I eat food, I like the food to be prepared enough that I can’t tell it is still alive. I can’t stand seeing food still alive at the table.
So I didn’t eat too much.

After dinner, two tables were set up.
One to play mahjong and the other Chinese Dominos.
And then there were other games played at random locations around the apartment.
And then there were people “blowing water”.
And a bunch of people watching TV.

I was standing behind my father trying to figure out how Chinese Dominos work.
After a long while, I was still totally confused.
An old guy was explaining to me about the game and how it works.
One thing he forgot to tell me was that the number of dots on the tiles doesn’t always mean what they appear to mean. Because of that, I have no idea what he was trying to tell me until later.

I kept watching until it was time to do the countdown.
And then I took a lot of drunk photos.

A few aunts and uncles also forced a few cups of liquor at me.
At least the stuff they force at me tasted better than red wine.

As it was also my father’s birthday, I jokingly gave him an electrical cord that I have no use for.
Then I gave him a few seconds’ time to acknowledge his present, and then gave him his real present.

At around 12:30am, people started leaving.
At 1am, all guests finally left.

Tomorrow is the last day I will be in HK.
I will be attending a wedding ceremony.

HK trip 2009 - Day 15 (Wednesday Dec30)

Day 15, December 30

I don’t remember the dream I had last night.

Last night, I set the alarm to ring 20 minutes later than usual.
This morning, I snoozed the alarm twice.

There was a cup of soy milk for breakfast.
As I was finishing the soy, I notice the bottom bit was darker than the rest of the soy.
Later, I found out it was actually a cup of milk tea...

Today, my grandfather took the day off work, so I went to the office with my grandmother.

It was almost 11am when I got to the office.
After quickly checking the usual things, I left to met the last important family member.

After that, I went to Golden Computer Center to buy printer refill ink for the CIS kit I bought.
At $30hkd (~$4.28cad) per 100ml and $160hkd (~$22.85cad) for the CIS system, it is a better deal than buying third party ink cartridges at $25hkd (~$3.57cad) per 13ml or original Brother ink cartridge at over $10cad per 13ml.
I also bought an HDMI switch, two HDMI cables, a RCA to 3.5mm adaptor, a really long 3.5mm extension cable, and a screen protector for my new laptop.

After that, I went to Sino Center to buy more manga.
While looking around, I found an art book for 1/2 Prince, which the series was recommended to me by a friend.
I ended up buying two volumes of a manga series with an interesting cover.

At around this time, my left eye lid kept twitching...

After that, I bought some cellphone accessories for a cellphone that I don’t have.
Since it is a relatively common phone, if I end up not getting that phone, I can still sell it to someone else.

After that, I went home for dinner.
On the way home, I saw a police bomb disposal vehicle.

There was a lot of leftover food from yesterday, so those became today’s dinner.

After dinner, I tried putting the screen protector on my laptop.
It was fail.
The first time, I got a few large air bubbles in it, and I couldn’t push them out with a card.
The second time, I got 2 pieces of dust stuck on it, and a bunch of tiny bubbles. It was good enough, so I left it at that.
The laptop’s screen was glossy, so it was reflective, and I didn’t like that.
The screen protector was matte, so it wasn’t reflective. That’s the way I like my computer screens.

After that, I did more packing to fit the new stuff into the luggage.
There was still a lot of empty space.
After that, I watched TV and then went to sleep.

HK trip 2009 - Day 14 (Tuesday Dec29)

Day 14, December 29

I don’t really remember what happened in my dream last night.
The only thing I remembered was that an old friend whom I haven’t seen or spoken to for the 6 or so years suddenly appeared and announced that he is getting married.
It was totally random.

Yesterday, J was complaining about how I started every post with “And then I woke up”, so today, I will not start with that.

So I was still sleeping.
Yesterday, I set the wrong time in my alarm clock, so it rang earlier than I wanted.
I ate breakfast, and then waited for my grandparents to get ready.

Seems like I ate too much recently. That or I ate something bad.

Once I arrived at the office, I finish uploading the rest of the photos from my phone and the posts to my website.

Just as I finish, my grandfather dragged me to lunch again.
Originally, he said he wanted to go to this club again to eat buffet lunch.
He said he wants me to use the free temporary membership card at least once or it would be a waste applying for it. Did I not say I do not want one?
So we arrived at the place along with my grandmother.
My grandfather said he would not be eating the buffet. He would order from the menu instead.
I told him I ate too much recently and my digestive system wasn’t feeling too well, so I also won’t be eating the buffet. I would just order something small instead.
Less than a minute after placing our order, he said his plate of noodles would be huge, so he would be giving me some of his food. Did I not just say that I am not feeling too well and want to eat less?
And then my grandmother said her bowl of noodles was also going to be big, so she would be giving me some of her noodles. What?
*sigh* I give up.

After lunch, I went back to the office.
I didn’t feel like walking around today.
I was tired and my left ankle started hurting yesterday evening.
It would hurt when I walk normally.
I must have accidentally twisted it slightly wrong some time during the day.

So I stayed in the office for the whole afternoon.

When going home, I passed by a phone store to find out the model number of my mother’s phone, and then bought a hand’s free headset for her.

Instead of riding the bus at the bus stop 2 blocks from the office, I walked all the way to CWB to ride the mini bus home.
I am not letting the pain in my left ankle stop me.

When I got home, my grandmother was playing mahjong with her friends.
I started packing my luggage, and continued working on setting up my new laptop.
It will take me a while to get used to Windows 7. Everything is quite different from Vista and XP.

While packing the luggage and working on my laptop, I left the TV on.
The program was talking about big things that happened in 2009.
They mentioned the news about the police using civilian vehicles as human road block.

After I finished packing, I noticed I didn't buy much on this trip.
I have two luggage containers.
They were filled with gifts when I come to HK.
Right now, I barely filled half of one of them with the stuff I bought.

HK trip 2009 - Day 13 (Monday Dec28)

Day 13, December 28

Today, I woke up to a really tiring dream.
In the dream, I was walking in a pet store in a mall.
I was looking for some pet food.
And then I left.
And then somehow, I was having an engine swap done on my car…
After that, I had to drive really fast to escape something, but the engine kept knocking...
So I had to run instead.

And then I woke up.
I had a really small breakfast.

My grandparents took an unusually long time to get ready for work, so I had to wait.

So I finally arrived at the office.
FINALLY! I get to go on the Internet with a stable Internet connection.
I uploaded all the Asia game show photos and talked on MSN, but only have time to upload half the random photos from my phone, and 2 day’s posts to my website.

At around 12pm, my grandfather dragged me to eat lunch with him.
He asked me to ask J to come along, which I did ask, and he did come.
The food was good, but I wasn’t really hungry, so I didn’t eat too much.

Originally, I was suppose to help this kid choose a laptop for school, but now he said he won’t need it until September, so I told him to wait until August before buying the laptop.

After lunch, I went to 298 to check out the price for printer ink.
I plan to compare it to the price in Golden Computer center.

And then we walked back to J’s hotel so he can get the funds to buy his precious laptop.
At that time, J also responded to half of my Asia game show photos…
I wish I have a data plan...

After that, we went to Apliu Street so I can buy a whole bunch of batteries for Terence, and J can buy his clock for his father.

And then we went to MK to meet up with another person so he can bargain on J’s laptop.

After that, we went to dinner.
That guy drives on the street in ways similar to how I drive on a track.

At dinner, the bowl for my bowl of rice cracked.

After that, I went home.
It was around 11:30pm when I arrived home.

HK trip 2009 - Day 12 (Sunday Dec27)

Day 12, December 27

I woke up to a really interesting yet scary dream.
I was in some kind of school environment.
It seemed to be the last day of class of a semester.
I, along with a few other people, decided to skip a few of the classes.
And I forgot what happened in between, and then bad things happened.
Then I woke up. It was 10am.

Today was the last day I will be without a usable Internet connection.

Since my grandparents will be going out for lunch at 11pm, I decided not to eat breakfast.

After lunch, I went to MK.
I walked around Sino Center again.
Most of the shops were still closed at 12:30pm…

I walked to the street full of ricer stuff, and looked around at stuff.
I then went to the shop I always go to.
I originally planned to get a new DVD player HU to use as a reverse camera.
Except it was not worth it.
Instead, I bought a dedicated reverse camera with screen. It was 10 times cheaper than the previous plan.

I then walked around the area with lots of model shops.
I found a birthday present for Terence.
While walking, I saw a really unique motorcycle.

And then I went back to Sino Center.
The shops are finally open.
I walked around, and met up with J.

By the time I left Sino Center, it was already 6pm.
So I went home.

During dinner, my grandmother told me to eat this certain fishball.
There was cheese in it...

After dinner, I watched the last episode of this HK drama.
I didn't like the way the director ended the whole story.

HK trip 2009 - Day 11 (Saturday Dec26)

Day 11, December 26

I had a more normal dream last night.

I woke up late today. I woke up at 10am.
By the time I walk out of my bedroom, my grandparents already left home for lunch.
I ate half of the breakfast, and rode the bus down to meet them for lunch.

After that, I went back home with my grandfather because forgot to bring my deposit slip for my laptop.
I was to meet up with my father after he was done with badminton at around 3pm.
I tried going on the Internet again. There wasn’t any connection to “borrow” from.
So I decide to go out.

After picking up the slip, I took a van down to CWB.
The driver was nuts.
He was driving the van down the hill at relatively insane speeds.
At times, the van felt like it was sliding.
If I were to drive my own car down that hill, even I won’t drive at the speed that driver was driving at.

I safely arrived at CWB.
It was only 1pm.
I walked to 298.
I went in, and walked around.
I bought a card reader. My old one died during the summer.

And then I walked to 188.
I bought a few more manga.

And then I walked to Wanchai Computer Center.
I looked around, but couldn’t find anything I want or need.

I then walked to Time Square.
I could have ridden the MTR to the CWB station, but I don’t know why I walked instead.
Along the way, I went into a bargain store. They only had fake stuff in there.

At Time Square, I walked around the two competing electronic stores.

After that, I walked around CWB for a bit.
At this point, I noticed that I walked all the way from CWB to Wan Chai, and then back to CWB…

There was nothing to do in CWB, I thought maybe I could go to MK to buy my friend a late birthday present, but it was almost 3pm.
It was almost time for my father to finish playing badminton, so I couldn’t go.

I walked back to 298 to walk around again.
I need to see what the rules are for bringing back bottles of ink. It is so cheap here.

I then walked once again back to CWB.
I looked around the Boardway there.
I was supposed to pick up my laptop from there, but I didn’t want to walk around carrying a laptop, so I left.
At that time, J finally woke up. It was 3:30pm.
My father should be done badminton.

So I walked toward Wan Chai again.
As I approach 298, my father called.
He said he will wait for me in 298.
I walked into 298 and looked around for a bit.
I didn’t see him there.
I called him. He confused 188 as 298.

After we met up, we decided to pick up the laptop.
So I walked once again back to CWB.

There were a bunch of people offering free hugs.
No one accepted their offer.

I was told to pick it up after 2pm.
It was 5pm when I arrive.
They didn’t have the laptop yet.
So I went with my father to meet up with my grandfather (father side) for dinner.

During dinner, I noticed one of the tea stems in my cup was standing up.

After dinner, we went back to Boardway to pick up the laptop.
After showing that the laptop works, the sales had trouble putting the laptop back in the box.
I LOLed.

And then I went home, and my father went back to China.

I started setting up the new laptop.
First, I uninstalled all the demo/trial softwares.
And then I personalized a whole bunch of stuff to make it work the way I want it to.
And then I tried out the Bluetooth function.
I connected my phone to it.
Seems like I can use the computer as the phone’s speaker.
There is also the option to use the computer to make a call with the phone, but I haven’t tried it yet.
There are also a few more options that I haven’t tried yet.

In the news, they talked a bit about people who like to take photos of dollfies.

And then I went to sleep.

HK trip 2009 - Day 10 (Friday Dec25)

Day 10, December 25, a public holiday.

I didn’t have a good night of sleep.
I woke up at least three times in the middle of the night.
I had a continuous dream between the times I woke up...
In the dream, I needed some help from a friend, so I went to his house.
When I arrived, there was a huge party going on.
Almost everyone I met in high school and SFU were there.
I walked around for a long while, without talking to anyone, and no one talked to me.
And then I woke up.

Since it was a public holiday, my grandparents didn’t need to go to work.
Which means I would not have stable access to the Internet.
And since the office will be closed until Monday, I will not have stable internet access until Monday.

After I woke up, I had breakfast.
And then I tried to “borrow” a connection. Except there was none.

With nothing to do, I played around with the scale.
I found out I lost 3kg since I last weighted myself a few days ago.
The cloths I was wearing weighted about 1.6kg.

And then I had lunch with my grandparents.
On the way to lunch, I passed by this display:

On the way back, for once, I actually fell asleep in the car.

And then I went to Wan Chai Computer Center to buy the laptop I had in mind.
Except the only store that has that model for sale doesn’t have any stock.

I then walked to 298 to look around.
I bought a huge capacity refillable ink cartridge for my printer. Screw buying overpriced ink.

And then I went to 188 to look for interesting things to buy.
I bought 2 manga.
I couldn’t find anything else interesting, so I left.

I then walked to CWB.
I found a small mall that I went to in 2003, so I went in there to find interesting stuff.
I couldn’t find anything that’s within price range, so I left.

I then went to Boardway.
The last time I was there, I saw the model on display there.
Except they also don’t have it in stock…
I made them check the other branches, but none of the branches has it in stock.
They said the supplier has it in stock, so they will order it in for me.

While in Boardway, I saw a tiny 3M projector for sale.
It seems interesting, although a bit expensive as a toy.
I am going to research about it once I get a stable Internet connection on Monday.

And then I went home.

During dinner, my grandfather once again gave me the whole speech about how university is important, how I am wasting my time with my hobbies, why I should go for a master’s degree, and his business.
It was really pissing me off, and I couldn’t just walk off.
I had no choice but to sit through the whole thing.

After I don’t know how long, he finally finished.
I was really tired.
So I took a quick shower and went to sleep.

HK trip 2009 - Day 9 (Thursday Dec24)

Day 9, December 24.
I woke up to a weird dream.
In the dream, I was walking at a really high place without rail guard. (I hate high places.)
And then, someone pushed me down from behind.
And then I woke up.

Today was the first day of the Asia game show.
I went to find J to eat breakfast at his hotel.
And then we went to the convention center.

There were 3 different conventions happening at the convention center.
We had to ride the escalator up 5 floors go to the game show.

There were two line ups.
One of them for people who already bought tickets, and one for people who needs to buy tickets.
We lined up in the line for people who needed to buy tickets.

After lining up for not too long, the doors opened, and the line started moving.
The ticket was only $25 HKD.
We got in, and walked around.

Most of the displays belonged to Sony.
They had a lot of PS3 and PSP for people to play their games.
There was also a large stage and a huge projection screen showing demos of their games.
There was also a huge section where they allow people to try GT5. Priority given to Toyota owners.

There was also a huge FF13 display board.

And then there were a bunch of displays for different Chinese online games.
They all had cosplayers dressing up as the characters in the games.

And then there was a World of Warcraft display.

Other than the officially hired cosplayers for the game companies, there were a lot of other casual cosplayers too.
The event organizer even allocated a big area on the side for just cosplayers.
I saw a Chii, a bunch of Vocaloids, and two Ranka Lee. There are also a lot that I don’t recognize.

After walking in there for a few hours, we left at around 3pm
We dropped off the hand outs, free discs, and T-shirts at J’s hotel room, and went for lunch.

After that, we found an arcade.
They have three Jubeat machines in there.
One of them was a “Practice” machine that was not connected to the network.
It allowed 4 songs per game, so I tried it out. I had a feeling that machine gives out a higher than usual score, because I have never had such good rating at those songs.

My mom had been calling me everyday for the past few days to buy a new pair of shoes to replace my current worn out ones. It got really annoying, so I went and bought a pair.
It was on sale for $349 HKD, and was the only pair left, and big enough to fit my feet.
When I paid, they gave me an extra $10 of change.
I don’t like taking advantage of things like this, so I gave it back.

And then I picked up my stuff from J’s hotel room and we went to my grandparent’s place to eat dinner.
After that, we had a long rant fest on the roof top while drinking beer. Except I was the one who did most of the ranting.

Afterwards, J took the 14M mini bus back to his hotel.

At that point, I was too tired to do anything, so I just took a quick shower and went to sleep.

HK trip 2009 - Day 8 (Wednesday Dec23)

Day 8, December 22.
Last night, I went to sleep right after taking a shower.
I never dry my hair with a hair dryer, so it was still damp when I went to bed.
This morning when I woke up, my hair was very stylish.

After making it look normal, I ate breakfast and got ready to leave with my grandparents to the office.

After arriving at the office, I did more research on things I plan to buy.
I have decided that I don’t need a DVD deck nor the reverse camera function in my car. This freed up a whole lot of pre-allocated budget for me to buy other junk with.

My grandmother went to play badminton, and my grandfather had to go somewhere, so at around 1pm, so one of my grandparent’s coworker treated me to lunch.
She had been working with my grandparents from before I was born.
I finally got to eat rice noodle with fish balls.

After that, I walked around the Wan Chai area while waiting for my father to finish playing badminton and for J to wake up.

Then we looked at laptops in Wan Chai Computer Center.
J found a laptop that is a better deal than the one I have in mind.
Too bad the screen size is a bit too big for me.

Outside, I saw a truck with an interesting license plate.

And we saw a kid in a box.
It reminds me of a certain webcomic I recently read.

And then we went to a Boardway in CWB.

Some time during the day, we decided to go to 亞洲遊戲展 (Asia game show) tomorrow.

And then we had dinner with my grandparents.
And then, my father was driven to the express bus station to go back to China and J dropped back at his hotel.

And then I took another nice long shower and then went to sleep.

My quick review: Casio EX-H10

Yesterday, I had a chance to take a few photos with a Casio EX-H10

I only took about 10 photos with it, so it is not in depth at all.
I will not talk about image quality or video function, because I didn't load the photos into my computer or take any videos with it.
The camera is set to the highest image quality and everything else on auto mode.

First thing I noticed was the really long time it took to save a photo.
I would click on the shutter, and it will take about three seconds of processing before showing me a review of what I just took.

Slow reaction time.
After half-pressing the shutter for it to auto-focus, when I fully press on the shutter, the camera still takes over half a second to actually take the photo.

The flash position is very horrible.
Most camera out there have the shutter button on the right side of the camera, so it is basically designed to be used with the right hand. This camera is no different.
Most camera has the flash on the left side. This camera has the flash on the right side.
So when I try to hold the camera with my right hand, my fingers will block the flash.

The zoom switch's reaction time is slow.
The camera will zoom for an extra half a second after I release the zoom switch.
So if I was zooming into an object, and I release the zoom switch at just the right time, it will zoom for an extra half a second, and zoomed too close.
On the other hand, the lenses zooms really fast. It is a lot faster than my Canon SX200is.

Distortion when zoomed out.
Distortion is really bad near the sides of the photo.
About 1/3 of the photo is distorted.

Taking photo with flash.
The flash looks like it is aimed down.
The few photos I took are of people sitting in front of a table.
Those few photos, the table was really bright and clear.
The people are quite dim and yellow.
And then the right side of the photo is dark, because of the way I usually hold cameras blocked the flash on this camera.

OSD.
The layout is okay.
The more frequently used options are easily accessible and easily understandable.

Conclusion
If given choice, I will not buy this camera.

HK trip 2009 - Day 7 (Tuesday Dec22)

Day 7, December 21.
Today is 冬至.

Today, I managed to wake up without much trouble.
I ate a little breakfast, and then got ready to leave.
While waiting for my grandparents to get ready, I tried going on the Internet.
Unfortunately, there were no more open and stable AP for me to “borrow” from.

After getting to the office, I did more research on the specs and reviews of the laptop I had in mind.
P8700, 4GB of ram, 320GB hdd at 7200rpm, ATI HD4750 video card with 512MB, that’s more than enough for the next 5 years or so.
My current laptop lasted me 5 years, with only a Pentium M 1.6Ghz (single core), 512MB ram (which I have since upgraded to 1.5GB), 40GB hdd (which I have upgraded to 160GB), NVidia 6200 with 128MB.

And then I had lunch with my grandfather again.
My grandmother was supposed to come too, but she was buying stuff for dinner.
By the time she arrived, we already finish eating. And the restaurant didn’t have the congee she wanted, because the restaurant was busy preparing for 冬至, and didn’t have enough man power to make a lot of the usual stuff.

And then I went to the office again for internet.

After researching more, I went to the WanChai Computer Center to look at laptops.
After spending about an hour in there, I went to 298 Computer Zone to look at random computer junk and to wait for J.

I looked down the street I usually walk on.
The air quality is great.

After he arrived, I went to the street that I used to live in when I was about 3 to 4 years old.
They were tearing down the building.

Wood Road.

Looking down the street

After that, we went back to J’s hotel room to research on the difference between Intel’s SU series, P series, and T series mobile CPU.

And then we went to eat dinner with my grandparents.
We were late, and they were all waiting for us.
My father was also there, along with the two guys from yesterday.

So we started eating.
Once again, I said I do not want wine, stop making me drink it.
That guy kept wanting me to take photos with his pink Casio EX-H10 camera.
I don’t care if you drank many glasses of Brandy, or if you are a cop in your country, or if your camera is pink. I am not gay. Don’t touch me. I don’t know who you are. Stop. Touching. Me.

After dinner, J and I sat around the table while the older people do their BS.
I would try to read the subtitles on the TV across the room.

At some point, my father used J as an excuse to go smoke.
And then, we left the table.

After a while, we drove J to the MTR station, and my father back home.
And then I went back to my grandparent’s place. (I stay there.)
And then I wasted almost a whole hour in the shower. I don’t even know how I manage to take that much time in there.
And then, I went to sleep.

HK trip 2009 - Day 6 (Monday Dec21)

I slept late last night.
I had the alarm set to 9:00am.
When I woke up, it was 9:02am.
Why didn't my alarm went off?

I checked the alarm settings.
It said it was snoozed.
So it seems like somehow, I snoozed the alarm without me knowing...

So I got up, and went to eat breakfast.
My grandfather already went to work.
That's rare.

So I had to wait for my grandmother to come back from shopping and then leave with her when she goes to play badminton.

And then went to the office again for Internet.
My grandfather left first to talk business with some other people, and then I left later to meet up with them for lunch.
It was AYCE again…
But for whatever reason, I wasn’t too hungry, so I didn’t eat much.
I guess I ate too much at the Korean BBQ AYCE last night.

After that, I went back to the office for Internet.
I spent the next few hours talking on MSN, researching on things I am thinking of buying, and waiting for J to wake up.
Maybe I will buy the laptop in HK after all. The model I had in mind was not listed on the brand’s Canadian website.
And now, I am having second thoughts on if I want to buy the HU or not… I originally wanted to buy it because of the reverse camera function. Do I really need that? Is it a “want” or a “need”?

At around 4pm, J was finally ready to go.
I need to get some shit from Sino Center, so we went to MK again.
And I forgot which direction I had to go to go to Sino Center.
I decided to walk in one of the directions. It was the wrong way.

While walking in Sino, I got a call saying I have to be back at around 6pm for dinner at that club again.
It was around 5pm when I got the call.
That means I have less than an hour to find the shit I came to buy, and no time to look around at other interesting stuff.
After walking around for a while, I finally found that store with the shit I want to buy.
It ended up being cheaper than I expected.

So I went back to the HK side to be picked up.
There is no public transportation to the club.

After I got to the club, I went in to find the table everyone else is at.
When I saw it from a distance, I wonder why it is so small. (“That’s what she said!”)
That’s when I found out, it was not a family dinner.
It was a dinner of my grandfather and the same 2 guys from lunch.
I became exhibit A. An item used to show off.
And my grandmother was at home.
I did not feel like drinking wine, and I already said I don’t want to. Why was I made to drink it anyway? I don’t give a fuck if you think it is important to drink when meeting with clients/business partners/etc. I am just exhibit A.
Why sit outside to eat, only to rely on the heater to stay warm? What’s wrong with eating inside?

And to those client/partners/etc people:
Why order something to eat if you know you are not going to be able to finish it? Why the fuck are you expecting that I will be able to eat half of it for you just because I am young? I may be the youngest person at the table, and I may be over 40 years younger than the next youngest person here, but that doesn’t mean I have an unlimited appetite. If you know you can’t finish the damn food, don’t fucking order it.
Why did you not make sure what exactly you are ordering? You ordered something, and then didn’t eat it because you think it has garlic (suen5), when it is actually eel (sin5).
Also, I am not gay. Don’t touch me. I don’t know who you are.

After that, we all went home, and I went to sleep early.

HK trip 2009 - Day 5

Day 5, Dec 20, Sunday.
Since my grandparents don't have to go to work, I slept in.

I slept until 10am, and then woke up.
Got dressed, shaved etc.
And then went to have breakfast/lunch with my grandmother and some relatives at 11am.

After that, I called J, as he wanted me to do, but he didn't pick up his phone, so I assume he was sleeping.
I walked around Wan Chai, and bought a webcam and a 32GB USB flash drive.

After that, I rode the MTR to MK, and went to Sino Center, as suggested by Patrick.
I walked in there for over an hour.
I couldn't find what I wanted to find, but instead, found something more weird.
I will be going back there to buy something really weird.

While in Sino Center, J finally called back.
He really was sleeping.

While waiting for him to get ready and come to MK, I kept walking around.
I only took a quick break at a place with open WiFi to check FB...
But I had to stand while doing that, because I wasn't a customer..

I saw this on a pole while walking around.

I walked to a mall that sells lots of video game stuff.
In a corner of the mall, there were a few shops that sells pron DVDs.
One of the guys tried dragging me into their store.
They seemed really desperate for a sale, so I didn't buy anything from them.

And then I walked to the area with a lot of model shops.
Too bad I can't bring an airsoft gun back.
Well, I can, but it is too much trouble making sure which one is allowed, and which one is restricted.

And then I decide to look at more Ricer stuff.
At about the same time, J finally arrived at MK.
He and I bought a pair of LED corner lights. Typical ricer stuff.
I also got a quote for the HU and related accessories I am thinking of buying.

And then we went to Apliu Street.
We each bought an alarm clock.
It looks like a block of wood when off.
Numbers glow on the side when it is on.

We also saw a BlueBerry.

After that, we went back to MK and met up with a friend of J.
And went to Korean BBQ AYCE.

After that, we went our separate ways.

HK trip 2009 - Day 3 and 4

On day 2, I went home at 1am, and didn’t go to sleep until 4am.
On day 3, Dec 18, Friday, I woke up at 9am.

Had breakfast, and then waited for my grandparents to get ready to work.
And then went to the office again for Internet.

I noticed that for the past while, whenever other people plan things, things never happens as planned.
Originally, my grandfather had some meeting, so my grandmother was going to eat lunch with me.
Instead, I had lunch with my grandfather again.
The food was goood.

After that, I went back to the office for more Internet while I wait for J to get ready.
And then we went to Golden computer center.

Too bad I can’t bring bottles of printer refill ink back from HK.
It is so cheap here.

I also saw a few FF13 Lighting edition PS3s for sale for $3100HKD.

I also took a quick look at laptops.
I have decided that I will finally replace my 5 year old laptop.
But I will not be buying it from HK.

And then we went back to CWB, so J can buy his dinner and go back to his hotel, and I can catch the bus home.

That’s basically day 3.

On day 4, I woke up at 7am.
For the first time in a while, something that other people planned happened as planned.
I met up with my father in front of the office, and then took the MTR to meet my grandfather (father side).
We had breakfast with him.

After that, I went to the office again for Internet.
Before I could settle down, I had to leave again to go to lunch.
My grandfather (mother side) was meeting some people, and we all had lunch at a club.
So I ate again...

After that, I walked around 298 to look at computer stuff again.
I spent over 2 hours in there.
And then met up with my father and went up to have dinner with my grandmother (father side).

My legs were so numb by the time I arrived at my grandmother’s place.
And I finally got to sit down.

We all waited for a long time for my aunt’s family to come.

After dinner, we watched a bit of TV.
It was showing a program where artists sing their recent songs, that are supposed to be highly rated.
Except they are all crap.
Those are not even songs.
The lyrics make no sense.
There is no melody.
The singers can’t sing.
I guess there is a reason why I only listen to older Chinese songs.

After that, I went home.

HK trip 2009 - Day 1 and 2

So on Dec15, I went to HK.
Everything started on the bad side.

I got through the security checks, and the customs found my swissknife type thing on my keys.
So they confiscated it.

For whatever reason, I was given access to the business class lounge, so I went there to waste time.
My luggages were also marked business class, and tagged with the priority tag.
But I was only in economy class.

After I finally got on the plane, an old woman was in my seat being very comfortable.
I was at a loss at what to do.
I don't feel like kicking her out.
I was just standing in an open area being confused and loss.
A flight attendant asked me where my seat is.
I showed her my ticket.
She went over and did the dirty work for me.
So I finally got my seat.

I finally got comfortable in my seat, and it was time for the plane to leave.
The captain announced that the flight will be delayed because the refuel truck's pump died, so we have to wait for a second refuel truck to refuel the plane.

While waiting, I fell asleep.

When I woke up, the plane was already in the air, and they have begun to serve dinner.
So I ate.

And then I watched 2 HK movies.
Both are drama, with killing involved.
In both movies, the main characters died.

At some point, I had to go to the washroom.
I have no idea why, but they all take a long time to do their stuff.
I waited for almost 5 song's time before I got my turn.
Before me, the woman got stuck in the washroom.
She was trying to push open a door that opens by pulling.
I was holding back my laughter.

And then I went back to sleep while listening to my iPod.

And then I woke up again, with about 2 hours left on the flight, so I watched another HK movie.
This time, it was a comedy.

And then, I finally arrived in HK.
I arrived in the morning, so I had a full day ahead of me.

I went home to drop off the luggage, and then went out to the office for internet access.

I then had lunch with my grandfather and one of his coworkers.
The food was so filling.

After that, I went to meet up with J.
Walked through two malls of computer stuff and a mall of just gaming stuff.

And then I ditched him and walked around with my father.

And then I went back home to get ready for dinner with my grandparents.

I went to sleep at around 10pm.
And woke up on day 2 at around 8am.

Had breakfast, and then waited for my grandparents to get ready to work.
And then went to the office again for internet.

And then my grandfather bought me to some hotel to have lunch with some relatives.
I am not used to eating at hotels.
I am not crippled.
I can open my own door.
I can pull back my own chair.
I know where the washroom is.
I know how to open the tap to wash my hands.
I know where the paper towels are.
I know where the waste basket is.
I know how to pour water.
I am not crippled.
And why was the pianist playing a birthday song on the piano?

So they finally finished lunch, and I went to met up with J again.
This time, we went to MK.

While going on the MTR train, a woman puked.
She left the train, and then puked some more on the platform.

We looked at ricer shit and other stuff.

Except there wasn't much I need for my car, and there isn't the parts he wanted.
Maybe I will get a new HU for my car again, this time with reverse camera.

And then we walked through the tourist traps.
I bought some souvenirs.
I also bought a pack of Tempo for Nathan, because he asked for it.

And then we went home to eat hot pot.
My grandparents were commenting on how J has a baby face LOL.

And then we went back down to talk about shit that happened in Canada, because I haven't had enough time in the past few months to sit down and talk shit with him.

And then I missed the last bus home, so I walked towards home to reduce the distance I have to ride in a taxi.
While walking, I walked past a phone booth, and a couple were arguing inside.
I LOLed.

I walked past the bicycle shop that I used to go to have my bicycle fixed.
And then caught a taxi home.

For the first time, I went home after 1am in HK.
